When are my taxes due?

Summer property taxes are due by September 14.
Winter property taxes are due by Feb 14.
Postmarks are not accepted.

There is a 24-hour dropbox located to the left of the front door of City Hall.  Any payments dropped after midnight are considered late and will have a penalty applied.  

How can I pay my taxes?

You can pay by:
Check (made out to the City of Sylvan Lake) personal, business or checks from visa/Mc checks are acceptable

Credit Card payments are accepted at City Hall or Online 
Discover, Visa or Master Card (A convenience fee applies)
E-Check-A flat fee of $3.00 will be charged online

Auto Debit-Sign up to have your taxes automatically deducted on the due date

When paying your taxes by check, you must write a separate check from your water/sewer and any other city business. 
If you pay through your bank remember to include your Tax ID.  No postmarks are accepted so if you are paying through your bank allow plenty of time for mailing before the deadline.

Who Qualifies for a Veteran's Exemption and When do I Apply?

This exemption of property taxes under MCL 211.7b, for real property used and owned as a homestead by a disabled veteran who was discharged from the armed forces of the United States under honorable conditions or his or her unremarried surviving spouse.

The property owner, or his or her legal designee, must annually file the Affidavit with the treasurer or assessing officer any time after January 1st and before, or until the conclusion of, the December Board of Review.
